If you've forwarded an email but it's not appearing on your trip, here are some common issues and solutions.
Check the Basics
First, verify the fundamentals:
- Correct email address: Make sure you're using the right trip email address
- Email was sent: Check your sent folder to confirm the email was actually sent
- Wait a few minutes: Processing usually takes 1-2 minutes, but can take up to 5 minutes
- Check spam: Sometimes emails bounce - check for bounce notifications
Common Issues
Email Not Received
If the email wasn't received by Trips:
- Check for typos in the email address
- Make sure you forwarded (not replied) to the address
- Check your email's sent folder to confirm it was sent
- Wait a few minutes and check again
Processing Stuck
If the email was received but processing seems stuck:
- Wait up to 5 minutes - complex emails can take longer
- Check the email status in your trip's email list
- Try forwarding the email again if it's been more than 10 minutes
- Check if there are any error messages
Processing Failed
If processing failed:
- Try forwarding the email again (retry the processing)
- Make sure the email contains travel details (dates, locations, etc.)
- Try manually adding the event if the email format is unusual
Email Format Issues
Some email formats can cause problems:
- Forwarded emails: Forwarding an already-forwarded email can lose information
- HTML-only emails: Some emails with only images might not parse well
- Encrypted emails: Password-protected emails can't be processed
- Very long emails: Extremely long emails might timeout
Solutions
If email processing isn't working:
- Wait a few minutes and check again
- Try forwarding the email again
- Upload a screenshot of the email instead
- Check the email status in your trip
- Manually add the event if needed
- Add a bug report if the issue persists
Manual Event Entry
If email processing isn't working, you can always add events manually:
- Click "Add Event" on your trip
- Fill in the details from the email
- Save the event
This is often faster than troubleshooting email processing, especially for one-off issues.
